Few days ago, I update ruby via Macports, and my rails application die.
(gem install mysql doesn't help)

Only full reinstall of ruby (with deleting it gems from /opt/local/lib/ruby) help.
And my rails and passenger come back.

Mac Qt helper rules

I'd like to show all of you example of self generating Qt project on Mac Os system.
Why is this different from linux or windows system?
The reason is unique way of creating software packages on MacOs.
Default program package on MacOs is a folder (for example Mplayer.app) this folder contain subfolders, in which user can find libraries, additional files, binaries). So default problem is put libraries on their place.

For this purpose I create special "_generator.sh" bash script.
The Algorythm:
1) generate default Qt Project file (*.pro);
2) add to project file all dependencies;
3) generate Xcode project file, using qmake -spec.

when you are using NSThread* thread; please add garbage collector by your own
see example (method "- (void) neuro_arch").
as you see I create and release NSAutoReleasePool each time when I run this function.
without that, memory leaker will find a lot of problems.

I waste an 8 hours to create application that will show Image onto NSImageView.

And you know? I don't get result.

Still creating connection From Controller To View is unbeliavable fucking hard.

There are no normal documentation.

Why I should found method "setStringValue" - onto NSImage (as I was thought that method, that can load images should controll image).

Noooo NSImage, is a part of big amount of classes that can controll images.

It is not so easy to buy Mac OS Snow Leopard into Minsk.

Apple.by, Apple.com, Local magazines e-mail's don't gave any answer about availability of this product on our markets...

Wow I got an answer from "http://www.belyterem.com/", it's our local Apple reseller store.
And thay say that I can buy it from them.

Just one more Plus in Linux side.

What Xcode does wrong.

I found some big minuses of XCode.

First: he can't go by function definition: he can go line by line, page by page; but from initizing of one function to initializing second function... where is it? If some one know please help me to found it.

Second: whet function return value, Xcode doesn't look what type is it. And like result Xcode doesn't show methods of returned result.
So contructions like Qlist.at(4).GetSize() is hard to write.

Third: Some params like: framework paths does not work.
This create a big problem when you write something with QT.

So this is a reason to use sometimes TextMate.

Well some days ageo I meet first really big bug into macports...
while installing amarok (I have thinks that iTunes is not so good solution for multimedia) so
while installing some port (i will like carefull later) it is go down on fetch stage,
cause: sources that he try to download sources from some control version system.

and die there)
i think that this port was wrote incorrectly, but i don't know.

so I start to think, that best MacOs For Programming Is Gentoo Linux :)

Office Tools Solution

today i try to upgrape port ruby by
# port upgrade ruby
(from 1.8.7_p72_2 to 1.8.7_p72_3)
and it fail on some yaml files.

solution: delete them by hand
# sudo su
rm /opt/local/share/ri/1.8/system/Exception2MessageMapper/fail-i.yaml
rm /opt/local/share/ri/1.8/system/REXML/Parsers/XPathParser/predicate-i.yaml

and do #port upgrade ruby
again

macport solutions gave a lot different possibilities
but today i'd like to say few words about VLC player.

now i use dmg solution (i think that dmg solution is a good way to became famous with application, if you don't like it => just delete it).

why VLC better than MPlayer? few points:
* you can put stream into network (http, UDP ...)
* you can make it 'under all other applications'

why MPlayer better than VLC?
* it is better work with video of big resolutions (may be faster).

and now:
Why I discuss Media Player Here.

VLC player gave one interesting possible solution to developers:
* using stream video
this solution you should use!

nowadays all programmmers can use own notebooks, and it make them more mobile that before;
use stream video to look at you faces, to show presentations, to look video together.

it's connect with screencasts.
use it, it a good way to get knoledges!

qt4-qtruby on macbook (macports system) (not working)

i meet a big problem when I try to create macport for qt4-qtruby...
it seems like, macport system first install packages into some inside dir (/opt/local/var/macports/build or neighbour) and it became a reason for not working solution with macports

well whaen I have morefree time, i will spend it to learn macport system more closer to understand how it work, and create this foobar port.

now you can use only (into folder where qt4-qtruby archive exist).

mv /usr/lib/libruby* / & tar zjvf qt4-qtruby*.tar.bz2 & cd qt4-qtruby* & make install

some days ago i decide to reinstall macOS (i kill there ruby environment)
and gave this time try to use macport.

now all look good. it looks like gentoo emerge system to me, but i read something about freeBSD port system like father idea.

first conclusion: it's much easier than gentoo-2008-any-version installing system
well there is a lot of erasons to it: i don't want to reconfigurate it to special places, just download dmg file http://svn.macports.org/repository/macports/downloads/MacPorts-1.7.0/MacPorts-1.7.0-10.5-Leopard.dmg and run it:)
also i advice to install Xcode-31 before and X11 tools for it
after use Terminal program to run xterm
where you can start to download port tree (# port sync)
thats all...
now read macport guide, and you will find a lot free software
enjoy!

Ruby Rules

1) never think about deleting ruby on macOS by deleting it standart library.
2) never drop ruby framework in libraries, it will never reinstall by reinstalling Xcode.
3) never compile\run ruby without --prefix=/usr/local or other path but not /usr
4) you should not delete ANY program here, never install new version of ruby in standart folder.

and you will not get into my situation of reinstalling macOS from Zero.

Virtual Machine On MacOs Tips

as i say before, i broke my ruby gem system, and it stop to install plugins in projects. this give me reason to install some server VM to get possobility of programming under it.

long history gave me virtualBox+Gentoo linux o it... I install kde X syste, there but now i decide to do it only like server.
this advice i'd like to send to all developers, who'd like to use ruby, rails on macOS without any problem.

what more... i gave name hope to virtual server inside my macOS, it's really nice to get into it by ssh, and macOS from now get interface name.

while connecting this two systems, I'm thinking about NFS, or virtuabox share-folders, now i use network interface (connect machine to Wi-Fi network) and share Ethernet Network To WiFI.
it give me:
1) i can use network between machines without any network, and without any fucking with NAT or virtual network
2) i can see internet that connected as from WiFi as from Ethernet.

use it carefully, because evety user who could connect to your Wi-Fi could use your connection via Ethernet.

Virtual Box: Gentoo Linux Like Guest Os

Why:
1) i'd like to get non-work stoppage server with true-work utils (now i have broken ruby-on-rails utils that connected with installing plugins) on my macOS.
Problems:
1) configurating kernel... by default kernel not configured even to run mode, and still i don't setup ALSA drivers... but on my mind i have not to do it here, i have a macOS to run media...
2) configurating video: don't forget about xf86-input-virtualbox and connected to it packages!
3) speed up. not so fast as i think...

How VirtualBox kicks kQemu off

I have no idea whow to install kqemu to macOs,
and decide to switch to VirtualBox..
design of virtual machine not so perfect, but here i have one very big plus +
it's an small window in Dock, that show current state of machine (like small screen to the machine on your panel).

whell almost all done with linux (i don' create loadable kernel Yet, it have problem with "UFS loding" something...) i don't know why but now i'm such a lazy guy, and now i just don't wan't to fuck my mind by such problem.

qEmu f**king, or How To Create Slow VM

and time is come to tell you the story about qemu fu*ing in macos.
well as someone know, i decide to install gentoo under some computer-vm on my mac os, first i think about buying vmware fusion. but now i find Qemu under macOS.
short description: UI is may be the best one. this vm by UI is the best what i ever see.
i try to make some sceens wile using Q:

show UI (while VM is in Full Screen Mode)

show UI while using "Command+Tab" buttons (Alt+Tab in win), when we try to switch to another application.

it reminds me cube effect in beryl when you change Spaces.

lets go to gentoo installation: I CAN'T connect systems together. knoppix have problem with loading (knoppix dvd that i have, have clever loader that vmsystem can't load, so i use minimal gentoo iso to load! Wow it works!

but not so good. i have to import a lot files into system to start gentoo-installing process. and here i get a big pit-stop.

there are a lot ways to send data on vmware. using network, using diskimage. but qemu...

qemu is something! i have network! really i can ssh to my real computer! but i don't have idea why i can't ftp to my share files... of some reason after connecting to ftp - wget decide to go to 127.0.0.1 62xxx port (number of port changing). i don't have ftp client into install-minimal...

and this is sad :(

but now i try to create file with image to send files throw it... may be it will work. i ll tell you about result

Rudix-2008rc2-1.dmg http://rudix.org/ Unix ports and packages for Mac OS X delivered in the Right Way. Use it, here is exist a lot of different tools that i use while programming (like nmap, mc, wget, glib, gettext). (free)
Programming:
* xcode312_2621_developerdvd.dmg this is official Apple developer tool. It contain gcc, make (but they are not so good as gentoo one). But still this tool is official apple tool (free).
* gem install rails, gem install rake, gem install cvstools, gem install sqlite3-ruby...
this all free libraries-tools to programming under ruby (i used it all to write some test client-server application).
mysql-5.0.67 (not installed yet), sqlite3 (last one) tools are free...
Communication:
DcQt: dc++ client, good client (free) but have some problem (i will search for another one): problems are: search not working, russian nicknames not working. good side: filenames is russificated, download speed really good;
X_Chat_Aqua.0.16.0.dmg - an irc client. A Good one, UI better than in linux\windows version.
download it on your mac first!
Skype_2.7.0.330.dmg : not tested yet.

HowTo Gentoo On MacBook

This is not so bad solution to everyone, but on my mind i'd like to install linux into macOs like Plugin.

This war started.

First mistake: decide to repartionilize HD by linux, when in macos exist realy nice and good tool that cold: diskutil.
Well as result: i should reinstall mac-os with all soft.

About multiloading: rEFIt + lilo on mbr part.
when i boot my macbook i just insert knoppix DVD and push "Alt key", until i don't see beautiful (UI on macbook owesome).
Well this gave me possobility to load macBook from Knoppix DVD.
And all start: mkfs.reiserfs on /dev/sda3, tar xvjf stare3 (i do it from i686 stage 2008.0), mounting proc on /mnt/gentoo/proc, (tryings to mount /dev wasn't succesfull).
well 2 daysfor compiling system + world + kde(3.5) + kernel (with setting kernel) + amarok + xchat + opera + ... other tools...
well as result now: i exclude alsa-drivers from kernel and compile them with ~x86 keywords (all system is compiled with x86 keyword).
and what i get:

pre: few days ago i bought macbook (466).
what i can told about.
pluses
1) during my first run, i shuold enter there a lot persona; informaton (like phone number, adres, e-mail) and i don't have possibility to enter such information after.
2) wow. it is about UI.
UI is the bestest part. At first NO PROBLEM WITH RUSSIAN!!!. really NO PROBLEM. i don't see such russificated OS before, linux\windows sucks what connected russification.
well about effects. there is a lot "beryl" effects :) and a lot different ways to set them.
3) wifi (AirPort). it is so easy to setting it) i don't see another more beautiful, more friendly interfaced wifi setting programm (exception may be palm OS one).
4) bluetooth, 80 kb\s with my rilley_elf_moto phone, and 30 kb/s with my rilley_elf palm.
but if phone gave possibility to OBEXing files, palm should send files by his own (and macBook should run server for getting files throw bluetooth.
5) spaces, realy friendly

Well what connected https.
1)In hostel i should use proxy server, and i don't have idea why ican't connected to https sites (i think that my macbook send there some password that are not corrected.
2) i still can't find place where macbook save my passwords to sites in safari.
3) developming sphere. i forgot my apple ID (stupid system) and don't have possibilities to download any apple SDK. without which i can't install anything :(

whell the second impression will be about ruby, ruby on rails... with macBook

p.s.: i don't have textmate, and other programs to programming...
i think that i sill by textmate... but before i will know my trial test period of textmate
